A front-clip, Y-shaped harness came out ahead in our testing for the simple reason that it discourages pulling without restricting a dog’s natural shoulder movement the way some back-clip designs can.
Fit matters more than brand. Look for adjustment points at the neck and chest, and check for rubbing after the first few walks — every dog’s build is different, and even a well-reviewed harness can chafe on the wrong shape of dog. If your dog is a determined puller, pair the harness with training rather than relying on the equipment alone to solve it.
